Day 567 Thursday August 9, 2018 1,011 Days to Go
It’s hard to know where to begin. Let’s start with the most recent news of the last few days>
– Hope Hicks was seen getting on Airforce One. Does anyone believe she got on the plane to talk about the good old days? No, she got on because Trump wants to make sure her lies are in line with his. That’s witness tampering.
– Bolton says they’ve imposed sanctions on Iran. What for? Who knows? After pulling out of the best international nuclear deal in history I guess Johnnie wants to show what a tough guy he is after spinning more times than Shaun White in the half pipe does over his outlook on Russia.
– Meanwhile North Korea is going full bore on nuclear bomb and ICBM development. Oh wait, it’s only our intelligence agencies reporting. Who can trust them? Better ask Kim. Just like Trump asked Putin about their meddling in our election.
– There were elections yesterday and the Trump picks in Kansas and Ohio barely won, which makes me wonder if someone diddled the election results just a bit? Who knows? We didn’t put any money into safeguarding our electoral system thanks to Republicans voting down such a package.
All the above is old news, and by that I mean it happened two or three days ago. Yesterday, it was revealed that Devin Nunes, head of the Intelligence Committee for the House was at a private Republican fund raiser for the woman running for Congress out in Washington state. She’s an incumbent and the 4th ranking member in the house. She and Nunes admitted that the plan to impeach Rod Rosenstein wasn’t some whacky right wing part of the party plan, but in fact was a mainstream Republican party plan. But first they wanted to get Trump’s Supreme Court pick through and get over the election.
If Brett Kavanaugh becomes a Supreme Court Justice you can kiss Roe vs Wade good-bye and Social Security and Medicare, not to put too fine a point on things. In other words the America you and I grew up in will be gone. This is, of course, what the Koch brothers have been angling for. Let’s not forget that the Koch’s father backed the Fascists in Spain and Italy in the 1930s. They want to bring that sort of “freedom” to America. There belief is that they are making money and people who want to tax them are “takers” and must be stopped.
Then yesterday a sitting member of Congress got arrested for insider stock trading. In fact, there are pictures of him on the White House lawn getting the bad news on a company he had $15 million invested in. He couldn’t trade his shares because they were in Australia where the trading had been halted (I believe that is correct), but he could call his son and tell him to get rid of his shares, which he did. So did the son’s fiancé and a few others. The company had put out a statement that said the FDA was allowing them to conduct trials and everything was peachy. Two days later the company put out a statement saying, “Oh snap, the trial failed. Bummer.” This is known as a classic “Pump and Dump” scheme. The Congressman, Chris Collins, sits on the board of this company. He got information before the public knew what was happening and he acted on that information. That’s called insider trading. Collins was the first Congressman to back Trump.
What is it about Trump that attracts such unsavory characters?
There have been somewhere in the neighborhood of one hundred people that have resigned from this administration. That is not normal.
Trump’s former attorney, his former campaign manager, his former deputy campaign manager are all in deep legal trouble and that’s just on financial stuff. We haven’t even gotten to the Russian conspiracy stuff yet.
